International Women’s Day is not observed in the US, and that’s a shame. It’s the only holiday I know that celebrates women—not women in relation to other people. You don’t have to be a mother, a girlfriend, or a wife to be recognized. Just being a woman is reason enough.
When I worked in an office, I brought my female coworkers flowers on March 8. If you’re by a deli now, consider doing that too. The tulips are looking good this week.
